Atacama (CL)
One of the driest places on the planet
Atacama Desert extents over 1200 km. Driven by “El Nino” only ones in 6 to 10
years rain fall. Places exist with no rain at all. Various salt deserts with lagoon’s
as habitat for flamingos. The Tatio Geysers by sun rise on 4300masl are a
highlight. Ice, 80C water and steam at the same time. Astronomers capitalize
on the extremely dry air, remoteness and high altitude.
