Madagascar (MG)
An Island with great endemic Flora & Fauna
Madagascar is the world 4th largest Island with 587 041 km2. The central highland is
characterized by grassy hills and patches of subhumid forest. The west side with
arid terrain gradually slopes down to the coast with mangrove areas and beaches
while the east side forms a steep escarpment containing remaining tropical lowland
forest. The friendley Malagasy have their origin out of 18 different ethnic groups. The
median age of the 26 million Malagasy is 19 years. The common languages are
Malagasy (Malayo-Polynesien origin) and French.
