View finder or reflex camera ?
A view on Leica M9 and Nikon D800 (2/4) The classic M view finder allows overseeing the entire motive scenes and the selected picture area within the bright-line frame also in dimmed or dazzling light situations. As long a line contour is in the range finder field the focusing is very easy and accurate. Personally I find it difficult to focus on a texture without clear contour. I could improve it a little with a range finder correction lens. Another useful feature of the M view finder is of course the image field selector where you can see the bright line frames of all of the classic focal length. It wasn’t understandable that some latest M models miss this feature out. The overall mechanical concept of the M system is fascinating with it’s focus on the real elements of photography. No automatism really supports. If you have to be fast it's often difficult to bring everything in line in time. The automatic white balance of the M9 isn't really good and the high ISO sensitivity of the sensor has further developed since the camera was introduced. But it's all up to the photographer how fast he is able to choose the right parameters. With the introduction of the M240 shutter noise, WB and ISO sensitivity have been noticeable improved.
